Belarus Embassy
On May 1st, 2008 the U.S. was ready tell the Belarus governement to close their D.C. embassy and consulates in New York, but at the last minute backed down as talks began. The planned request was in retaliation to the Belarus' expulsion of most of the U.S. Embassy staff in Minsk.
On May 5th Belarus accused the U.S. of recruiting citizens into a spy ring with the goal of undermining the ex-Soviet republic. No new news has been reported on the wire since.
